Kerope is a "free" island nation that remains independent of both Vale and the nations of Rodash. Most other countries hate the Keropians, as the majority of them make a living through piracy. Plentiful trade sails past their islands as goods pass between Taelmoor and Rodash, and the Keropian Pirates help themselves to it. In many cases, they are paid off and don't even need to engage in piracy at all. The pirate ships are often members of the Keropian navy, causing the piracy to be almost state sanctioned. Due to the high cost of invading such a mountainous island, they remain a thorn that is mostly left alone.
